Stop apologizing !



To apologize is to acknowledge one's wrongdoing, to be aware of one's mistake and the harm that can result. That's good, but we can do better: by apologizing, we focus on ourselves, our faults and mistakes. And if we say thank you, if it is appropriate, it can enhance the value of the other person who has done something to demean himself or herself.

When speaking, the brain will tend to retain negative terms even if they are accompanied by a negation, so it is better to speak in the positive. Of course, apologizing remains a minimum, learned during education by the parents, but thanking on the one hand allows us to get out of our personal confusion while valuing the other. This can really help defuse conflicts when the tension is palpable.

Conversely, perhaps you have experienced the embarrassment when a person apologizes. It is much more pleasant to be thanked than to feel uncomfortable, guilty or indebted.
